Name: Yuri Egin
Canon: Blue Exorcist (manga)
Canon point: Chapter 117
Age: 28

History: wiki link (ignore anything that mentions the anime)

Personality:

- Yuri Egin's fatal flaw is seeing the best in people. She believes everyone has some good in them, and that everyone can be saved. And that she's the one who should help save them. While she is successful at this in canon when she befriends Shiro (who starts off the flashback arc as an angry, bitter, violent person, and learns to have friends and rely on people through his interactions with Yuri), this relentlessly optimistic view of others ends up being highly unsuccessful when applied to Satan, and ultimately results in her death, because like, it's Satan. He's a bad person.

- Strongwilled. Yuri's stubbornness is a trait that shines through pretty quickly. Once she has an idea in her head, she never gives up on it. This can range from something as straightforward as being a teenager facing down a rampaging demon without flinching because she's confident she knows how to stop it, to deciding as a little girl she's going to be friends with someone and not giving up on that goal even though it takes a decade to accomplish it. Having a strong will is important for her powerset, as demons only listen to their tamer if the tamer is confident enough to command them, which means she's her excellent at her job. It unfortunately also means that once she sets her mind on a course, she ignores every single red flag and everyone's advice.

- Yuri is the type of person who's always jumping in to help people. And I'm listing this as a negative trait, because in canon her friends recognize it as a negative trait. "Stop doing everything for everyone! It's a bad habit!" her friend Rick says to her at one point, after she mentions that she doesn't have time to hang out after work because she has to write up test questions for someone else's class. It's a terrible combo of not knowing how to say no to anyone who asks for help and jumping in when she sees someone might need help.

+ Loyal. As mentioned, Yuri's the type of person to decide who her friends are and never give up on them, no matter what happens. She's also loyal to her convictions, to her view that the role of exorcists is to save people from demons, no matter the personal cost. This doesn't translate to loyalty to a particular group or institution, she's more than willing to go behind her superior's backs if she feels like her way is better or if she feels like policy is wrong. But once you have her as a friend, she'll die for you.

+ Resilient. Yuri's ability to bounce back from hardship is incredible, to the point where other people comment on it. As a child, after she was orphaned the second time and taken in by a pseudo-military boarding school with no choice in the matter, she was giddy with excitement instead of concerned or worried. She naturally looks on the bright side of things, and adapts to make the best of situations rather than getting stressed or upset.

+ Intelligent. She's an expert in her field, who's written textbooks and taught for multiple years (including assisting other teachers with their lesson plans and test preparations), and is well-respected by other exorcists for her skills and knowledge (both her immediate coworkers and those higher up in the Order). While it tends to look like she's impulsively rushing into things, she almost always has an underlying plan, and she thinks ahead (stealing a key to an off-limits area months before she knew it would be necessary, as an example). Her choices might seem like terrible ones from an outside perspective (like starting up a romantic relationship with Satan) but there's a considered underlying logic to them (in that case, she gave Satan what he wanted since he was obsessed with her, which opened up the possibility for him to eventually die content with his experience in the physical realm so he wouldn't want to try and come back).

Powers/Abilities
Yuri is an exorcist!
- She can see demons (which is a blanket concept for supernatural beings that includes everything from ghosts to angels).

- Her main focus in exorcism is as a Tamer, someone who can summon demons from the mirror dimension of Gehenna. She works at a demon farm, where she raises and trains demons to work with other exorcists to combat demons, as well as training exorcists to work with demons. She's seen working with a variety of demons, including naiads (water spirits), greenmen (plant demons), and golems (statues animated by application of magical seals).
-- I'm operating off the assumption that summons just won't work here, but if they will let me know and I'll come up with more detailed info on the demons she'll be using!

- While not her main focus she also has enough training to be at least competent in the other exorcism methods used in her canon (she was a child soldier, and as an adult is shown helping her coworkers with prep work for the classes they teach) including Aria (banishing demons by chanting scripture, forming basic protective barriers), Doctor (using herbs and potions for chasing demons off or healing demonic injuries), Dragoon (shooting demons), and Knight (stabbing demons).

Regret: Not being able to save Satan (from his own terrible decisions).

Suitability: She's smart, a good problem solver, not afraid of taking risks, and will be highly motivated to help out her teammates. Plus her regret is something she views as her ultimate failure, and she's very aware that that failure has and will have a massive negative impact on her world.

Inventory: Just the clothes she's wearing.
